Chatfield Public Schools uses Taher Inc, a professional food service company, to administer it food and lunch programs. Meals are based on very specific requirements from the USDA. If you have any questions about specific meals or have nutritional questions, please contact the food service director, Gwen McCaulley, and she can get you the information you need or assist with any questions.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

     Our school provides healthy meals each day. The United States Department of Agriculture is allowing schools to provide meals for the 2021-22 school year through a provision of the National School Lunch Program called the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). A waiver has been issued in order to support access to nutritious meals while minimizing potential exposure to COVD-19.

     Our school has chosen to use this waiver and operate the SSO which enables us to provide meals free of charge for all students. No application is required to receive this free meal benefit.

     However, your child(ren) may qualify additional benefits such as reduced fees or the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) which is a federal temporary emergency nutrition benefit that is loaded onto electronic cards for families to purchase food. At public schools, your application also helps the school qualify for education funds and discounts.

     *The summer deadline to apply for free or reduced-price meal status for newly eligible students for summer P-EBT benefits is September 3, 2021. Applications must be received at the school by September 3, 2021, in order for newly eligible students to be considered for summer 2021 P-EBT.

  • If approved for free/reduced price meals & you have a negative balance you are still accountable for the negative balance.  Please contact Gwen McCaulley to request a copy of your meal statement: or 507-867-4210 x5171
  • Meal benefits apply only to the reimbursable meal.  The reimbursable meal includes milk as one of the required components and must be priced as a unit.  If the student decides to take only milk, this is not a reimbursable meal and will be charged for the milk as an a la carte item.  Just an Entrée’ or Ala carte or second meals are also not considered reimbursable meals.
  • Morning Break ala carte is NOT part of the free breakfast or Free lunch programs. All morning break items are extra charges.  If you have a negative balance DO NOT come thru the line unless you have cash.
  • ALL ala carte items MUST be placed on your tray OR openly shown to the cashiers when checking out of the lunch line.
  • Students you need to clean up after yourselves. Return food trays, plates, bowls and silverware to the dish cleaning areas and put your garbage and wrappers in the garbage and not leave them on the tables.

P-EBT Hotline and Help Form for Families
