Chatfield Public Schools uses Taher Inc, a professional food service company, to administer it food and lunch programs. Meals are based on very specific requirements from the USDA. If you have any questions about specific meals or have nutritional questions, please contact the food service director, Jim Sawyer, and he can get you the information you need or assist with any questions.

  • If approved for free/reduced price meals & you have a negative balance you are still accountable for the negative balance.  Please contact Jim Sawyer to request a copy of your meal statement: jsawyer@chatfieldschools.com or 507-867-4210 x5171
  • Meal benefits apply only to the reimbursable meal.  The reimbursable meal includes milk as one of the required components and must be priced as a unit.  If the student decides to take only milk, this is not a reimbursable meal and will be charged for the milk as an a la carte item.  Just an Entrée’ or Ala carte or second meals are also not considered reimbursable meals.
  • Morning Break ala carte is NOT part of the free breakfast or Free lunch programs. All morning break items are extra charges.  If you have a negative balance DO NOT come thru the line unless you have cash.
  • ALL ala carte items MUST be placed on your tray OR openly shown to the cashiers when checking out of the lunch line.
  • Students you need to clean up after yourselves. Return food trays, plates, bowls and silverware to the dish cleaning areas and put your garbage and wrappers in the garbage and not leave them on the tables.

Complete the Application for Educational Benefits form for school year 2022-23 if any of the following applies to your household:

  • Any household member currently participates in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or
  • The household includes one or more foster children (a welfare agency or court has legal responsibility for the child) or
  • The total income of household members is within the guidelines shown below (gross earnings before deductions, not take-home pay). Do not include as income: foster care payments, federal education benefits, MFIP payments, or value of assistance received from SNAP, WIC, or FDPIR. Military: Do not include combat pay or assistance from the Military Privatized Housing Initiative. The income guidelines are effective from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
