Chatfield Preschool provides a stimulating environment which allows children to grow socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. The Preschool program provides a variety of experiences and strives to meet the needs of each child.
Preschool operates under four basic principles.
1) Each child is an individual and develops at his or her own pace.
2) A child’s work is his/her play and children learn by doing.
3) Every child should have access to the preschool experience.
4) Parents play a key role in the education of a child.
Preschool teachers set up intentional play and activities that support the theme, vocabulary, and goals for the session. Children are busy with blocks, puzzles, sensory tables, and dramatic play. They try their hands at science experiments and art projects. Students are engaged in circle times, which include music, stories, morning messages, and more!
Chatfield preschool offers morning and full day classes. The 3 & 4 Year Old classes are 2 days each week. Options for 4 & 5 Year Olds are either two-day, three-day, or 4-dayclasses. Pre-K Valleyland is available for childcare in the mornings, 6-8 a.m. and afternoons, 2:45-6 p.m. Valleyland is available only on the days that the child attends preschool.
CHATFIELD EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING
Early Childhood Screening is a free service to check on your child’s growth and development. Early Childhood Screening is required for all children in MN before they attend Kindergarten. Children are eligible to attend Early Childhood Screening after age 3.
Early Childhood Screening is an opportunity to evaluate your child’s speech, language, social and emotional development, hearing, vision, height, weight, immunizations, and health review. Early Childhood Screening is also a time to learn about resources and programs in our community.
Chatfield Public School is offering early childhood screening on Wednesday, August 19th from 1pm until 6 pm. This will be the only screening event this year offering late afternoon/evening hours. To sign your child up for screening, complete the following:
Go to the Chatfield Public Schools homepage, click on Prek-6, then click the link for the Early Childhood Screening on the left or use the following link: https://www.chatfieldschools.com/community-ed/early-childhood/early-childhood-screening.
Complete BOTH the Early Childhood Screening Packet and the Ages & Stages Questionnaire forms (based on your child’s age) and submit. You will also need to sign your child up for an appointment time. You can do this by following the instructions on Step 3.
Early Childhood Screening will be held at the elementary school. You will need to enter through the main office and check in. A parent or guardian must accompany their child. Screening generally takes about an hour to an hour and a half. Be sure to bring a copy of your child’s immunization record with you to the screening.
There will be two more opportunities for screening throughout the school year. They will be offered during morning and early afternoon hours.
