Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Southeast Service Cooperative, provides students with an opportunity to strengthen spelling, vocabulary, and language skills through friendly academic competition. The program promotes careful listening, preparation, and confidence while celebrating academic excellence.
Students prepare for the Spelling Bee by studying word lists and practicing spelling, pronunciation, and word usage. Participation helps students expand their vocabulary, improve reading and writing skills, and develop focus and poise when speaking in front of an audience.
School-level Spelling Bees allow students to compete locally, with qualifying students advancing to regional competitions hosted by the Southeast Service Cooperative in Rochester, Minnesota. These events provide students with the opportunity to represent their school while competing alongside peers from other districts in a supportive and respectful environment.
The Spelling Bee is open to students who enjoy language arts, word study, and academic challenges. Participation helps students build confidence, attention to detail, and perseverance—skills that support success across all academic areas.
