All Student Announcements (7-12):

The nurse is out of office until Tuesday, October 13th. Please limit visits to those with regular meds, those being cleared to return to school, or need to go home. Thank you!

 

On Friday night the Varsity football team has a home game with LA.  You will need a ticket to get into the game.  We are only allowing 125 tickets to be sold and currently we are offering them to seniors and juniors only.  The game will be live streamed on CCTV.
On Saturday night Varsity Volleyball team will play FC.  No fans are allowed at these games but it will also be live streamed on CCTV.

 

Students must be in attendance in-person or by distance learning during the regular school day in order to participate in after school games, meets, practices and activities.  If you are not in attendance when distance learning and you show up for a game or practice you will be sent home.  

 

MEA Week: Monday A Group, Tuesday B Group, Wednesday DL for everyone. Monday, Fifth period Day 1 and Tuesday, Day 2

 

Parent-Teacher Conferences are October 12, Monday and October 13, Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM.  This year we are planning on having virtual (Zoom) conferences at Chatfield High School with Group A meeting with teachers on Monday and Group B on Tuesday.  We will split up the times alphabetically by last name so the Zoom waiting rooms do not get over crowded.  Please refer to the following charts:

** Poster contest 9th -12th grade. Decorate our Gym for the Volleyball players ( they are not allowed fans this year). 1 entry per person, 1 person per poster.  These will be judged and awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd at the end of the week. Paper will be available outside the LINK near the art room. Contest starts Monday. SUPPORT YOUR VOLLEYBALL TEAM FROM AFAR!!  Posters should be submitted to the councilor’s office

Second semester and third trimester art students from the 2019-2020 school year: Your clay has be fired and it is ready to pick up! Stop by Ms. Potter’s room at any time before October 16th to pick up your work.

 

Hy-Vee is partnering with the Chatfield School District to offer a school located influenza (Flu) vaccination clinic.  The vaccination clinics are scheduled to occur at the High School on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 (Group A) or Thursday, October 22, 2020 (Group B) from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Elementary is scheduled on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
If you would like to have your student receive the influenza (flu) vaccine at their school, please complete the vaccination authorization form and return to your school by October 12, 2020. These can be picked up in the high school or elementary offices. **If you would prefer your Child to have the Flu Mist, please make sure to mark it at the top of the authorization form.

 

Senior High Announcements (9-12):

CLASS OFFICER SIGN UP WILL CONTINUE THIS WEEK AS THERE ARE STILL SLOTS TO FILL AS FOLLOWS:

·         12th GRADE needs vice president, secretary and treasurer

·         11th GRADE needs vice president and treasurer

·         10th GRADE needs president

·         9th GRADE needs president, vice president, secretary, treasurer

 

 

Math League: Any 9-12 grade students interested in joining Math League Team this year should send Miss Virgin an email at kvirgin@chatfieldschools.com  Math League is a competition where students compete individual and as a team on math tests against other schools in our area.  This year, all meets will be virtual so even students in full distance learning mode can participate.  Hope to hear from you this week!

Election Judge Trainee Application

The City of Chatfield is looking for Election Judge Trainees. This opportunity is available for students who live in or near the City of Chatfield and will be 16 or 17 years old by Election Day. It is provided in accordance with MN Stat. §204B.19 subd. 6. (Students who are 18 or older can be regular election judges.)

Election judge trainees work in the polling places with election judges. Trainees may work a shift between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., although parents/guardians may prefer that students begin their shift after school hours.

Duties could include, but are not limited to:

• determining whether a voter is in the correct precinct

• distributing ballots, answering general questions about the voting process

• helping the voting process as needed and operating the election equipment.

Election Judge Trainees will obtain understanding and practical knowledge of voting laws in Minnesota,
earn some money for training and for hours worked on Election Day, and learn workplace etiquette skills.
Applications may be picked up from Mrs. Lowrey, District Office and must be turned in by October 16. 

 

ATTENTION PSAT STUDENTS

Sophomores who are signed up to take the PSAT 
A reminder that on Thursday October 8th  the PSAT pre-registration  will be given in the Forum Room during Flex Time. FOR THE B GROUP.
On Monday October 12 the PSAT pre-registration will be given in the Forum Room during Flex Time FOR THE A GROUP.
(This may run into 8th period just a few minutes.)
The PSAT test will be given on Wednesday October 14, beginning at 8:20 IN THE Multipurpose Room. You need to be seated and ready to go at that time. You should arrive by 8:10. 
Some things to consider.
1. NO Phones, apple watches or any other device that is considered having technology is allowed in the test site. If you have any of these things on you, you will be excused from the test.
2. You are allowed a Calculator for only one part of the math test. I’m attaching the linc of what types of calculators are allowed: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/taking-the-tests/test-day-checklist/approved-calculators 
3. It is recommended that you bring snacks and a water bottle, to eat and drink during break outside of the test room.
4.You will need some form of ID:  Driver’s License, Student Pictures.

Youth & Young Adult Career Planner with Workforce Development, Inc. The services offered could benefit students who connect with us! The career planners, work with at-risk youth & young adults in the 16-24 age range to assist them with overcoming barriers to their employment & educational goals. This is done by assisting with resumes, interview preparation, setting up paid work experiences, offering scholarships, etc.
