All Student Announcements (7-12):

7-8 Grading

·         The last trimester will be graded using A, B, C and D with the D grade being adjusted to include effort and any special circumstances during the Distance Learning time period.  Students that are below the D range will not fail but instead receive a GN (Growth Needed).  Students that receive a GN may complete the course during summer school with parent input on this decision.  Students in Grades 7 & 8 will not be restricted from moving on to the next grade level because of GN grades that were received during the COVID-19 Distance Learning period.

9-12 Grading

·         For students in grades 9-12 the last semester will be graded using the A, B, C, ME and GN.  The ME stands for Met Expectations and is considered passing the course.  The GN stands for Growth Needed and the student needs to make more progress to receive a credit and pass the course.  Students with a ME grade will receive credit for the course and will not have the course figured into their GPA.  Students that receive a GN will not have the course figured into their GPA and will not receive a course credit unless they take summer school or complete a plan of study during the next school year.  Students that receive a GN will be a case by case basis with parent and student input.  A student that receives an A, B or C will receive credit and their grade will be figured into their GPA.  Any student may request to receive ME instead of a letter grade, but must make that request prior to May 20, 2020 to Mrs. Duxbury, guidance counselor.  Before a final decision is made the guidance counselor must review the pros and cons with the student regarding the ME grade versus a letter grade.

There will be a Speech Awards Zoom Thursday, May 21st at 7pm. All speech students and their parents are invited! Details are listed on the speech FB page.

Chatfield Senior High School has decided to recognize their Senior class with a daily Senior Spotlight. These Seniors have been nothing short of exceptional members of the Chatfield School and will leave a positive and long-lasting impact on the school, staff, and culture at Chatfield.  These Senior Spotlights will give the community of Chatfield a little glimpse into who some of these Seniors are, and what we can expect from them in the future.

Kaylee Maker...

Kaylee Maker enjoyed running Cross Country where she made All-Conference this year. She is Chatfield's next Senior in the Spotlight. A few of Kaylee's favorite things are country music and the movie Midnight Sun. Someone that Kaylee admires is her father because he is a very selfless person that puts others first and is always there to teach her things. Another person Kaylee admires is her mother because she is always there to talk to and support Kaylee. A few words of wisdom Kaylee wanted to share are, "Always do what is best for you because there is always going to be people trying to stop you from what you want, but when you only get one life, those people are not what is important." Next year, Kaylee will continue to do what is best for her and will be attending Rochester Community and Technical College and applying to Mayo for the Phlebotomy program. Ten years from now, Kaylee hopes to be working her way up the Mayo Clinic chain while owning a house and having a dog. Good luck, Kaylee!

You are going to do great and Mayo will be lucky to have you on their team! Go Gophers!

Kimberly Greiner...

A few favorite things from Chatfield's next Senior in the Spotlight are The Stand by Steven King, Game of Thrones, and music by Chance the Rapper, and Quinn XCII. That Senior is Kimberly Greiner. Kim has a long list of accomplishments over the past years. She was All-Conference in gymnastics from 2017-2019, graduated with her Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts, and is a member of the Minnesota Honor Society. A few of Kim's hobbies are playing softball, drawing, painting, hiking, birding, and photography. Her mom is someone she admires the most because her mother is the hardest working person she knows. Also, there has never been a moment where she has not supported Kim to do her best. Next year, Kim will be attending Iowa State University to study Psychology. Ten years from now, she wishes to have her schooling completed with a Masters or Doctorate Degree. She also hopes to be living somewhere warm and traveling as often as she can. To conclude, Kim has some great words of wisdom, "Be as involved as you can, do not sit out. Try everything, even if you are not the best at it. Don't stick only to what you are good at and talk to everyone, be nice!". Kim, thank you for your positivity and the good memories you have left with us! Good luck at Iowa State!

Nate Bernard...

Chatfield's next Senior Spotlight will be focusing on someone who was on the Section Runner-Up Football Team this year. That senior is Nate Bernard. A few of Nate's favorite things are the book Where the Red Fern Grows and the movie Kicking and Screaming. During his free time, Nate enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends. Someone that Nate admires is his dad, Mike. Nate admires his dad because he can fix anything. Next year, Nate will be attending Rochester Community Technical College to start his career path in plumbing. Ten years from now, Nate hopes to be working in a job he loves. Nate, thank you for making every day exciting and good luck at RCTC! You are going to do great! Go Gophers!

Madison Collett...

Maddie Collett has been a vital member of Chatfield's school culture over the past 6 years and now she is in the spotlight! Some words of wisdom that Maddie wanted to share are "If you stand for nothing, what will you fall for?". While at Chatfield, Maddie stood for a lot, but most importantly, she stood for what was best for the school. Some of Maddie's hobbies are hiking, reading, traveling, visiting national parks, Dance, Delta, and Service Club. Next year, Maddie will be attending Macalester College in Saint Paul. While attending Macalaster, Maddie intends to study Political Science. Ten years from now, Maddie is not one-hundred sure percent where she will be or what she will be doing, but she plans to continue with the hobbies and activities she loves. No matter where you land Maddie, you will continue to make wherever you are great! Thank you for all you have contributed to Chatfield. We cannot wait to see where life takes you! Always be yourself, and be proud of it! Go Gophers!
