Counselor News:

Due to COVID-19, almost 44% of students worry about their ability to enroll or stay enrolled in college. This astonishing statistic is due to the uncertainty that comes with campus closures, high levels of nationwide unemployment, and the unknown of when coronavirus will truly blow over and life will return to normalcy.

Our team at TheBestSchools.org wanted to reach out and share our $1000 scholarship that is offered to online student applicants biannually. We believe that by sharing this resource with students that look to you for reliable information, we will be able to help alleviate some of the stress that future college students may be feeling about their future ability to attend university.

      JUNIORS!!

ANYONE INTERESTED IN SMSU

Students can officially begin applying for fall 2021 on June 1st!

·         The week of June 22-26 is Minnesota State Week, and we’ll be hosting academic-specific virtual visits for students during that week. These visits are approximately 2 hours in time (with small breaks) and allow students to learn about SMSU Admission, meet with faculty from their academic areas of interest, and talk with current SMSU students. This is a great opportunity for 2020, 2021, and even 2022 graduates to explore college and academic options.

·         To further celebrate Minnesota State Week, we are waiving the application fee for all high school juniors applying for fall 2021, high school seniors/graduates applying for fall 2020, and transfer students starting any time in the next academic year (fall 2020, spring 2021, summer 2021, fall 2021). When doing the online application, students can enter the promo code DISCOVER to have the $20 application fee waived from June 1st through June 30th.

·         Our current plan for the fall semester is to return to campus with modifications to be made per the CDC and MDH guidelines: SMSU Letter to Students.

·         We will continue to be test optional this fall, and our scholarships will still be based on GPA or ACT/SAT, whichever is better for the student.

GO GOPHERS!
