All Student Announcements (7-12):

This is Banned Books Week!  Many books have been challenged or banned by people who haven’t even read them, just heard that they were inappropriate!  Banned books include Thirteen Reasons Why, Of Mice and Men, and the Harry Potter series. The Library in the LINC has these and other banned books and also a word search of the top ten banned books of last year.  “Books Unite Us, Censorship Divides Us!”

 

School spirit items for sale this week and next week during lunch and in Ms. Adams office before and after school. We have bandanas, pom poms, maroon & white bead neckalaces, pennants, foam fingers and seat cushions. Show your school spirit during homecoming week.

 

Homecoming week is October 4-9!
All night activities are only for grades 9-12.
Monday: 'Merica Monday - wear your red, white, and blue
            Support your girl's varsity volleyball team @ 7:15!
            Boys volleyball games to follow.
Tuesday: Country vs Country Club - wear your camo and boots or your polo and khakis
            Support the cross country team at the Chatfield Golf Course!
            Bonfire in the gravel parking lot from 7-9 PM. There will be 'smores and a bean bag tournament! There will be a sign up sheet outside the counselor's office for the tournament. It is first come, first serve due to limited time and slots. The winners of each grade tournament will play the other grades to earn points.

Senior High Announcements (9-12):

 

9-12 kids should not leave the cafeteria until Mr. Eppen or Mrs. Finseth releases lets them go. One of them will come down there and release them.

 

Any students signed up for the PSAT. You will be meeting in the Forum room on Tuesday October 6 at 1:30 to go over the pre administration information.  It is very important that all who are planning on taking the test be there on time.

 

Drivers Education for students age 14 ½ and older will be Mon-Fri, Oct. 25-Nov. 5,  3:20-6:20 p.m.   Parents join the class on November 5th.   Flyers are available in the Activities Office.  Register at www.EnhancedDrivingInstitute.com.


 

Students in Grades 9-12 are invited to design an original science fair project in Microbiology, Environmental Sustainability, Robotics, Behavioral Science or 21 other categories to compete at the SE MN Regional Science Fair in February 2022.  One regional high school winner automatically advances to the International level in Atlanta, GA in May 2022.  Please see Mrs. Gathje for details.

 

The 2022 Official Rube Goldberg task has been announced!  Can you “Open A Book” in 75 comically complicated steps?  STEM Club is looking for a team to take engineering to the next level.  Please see Mrs. Gathje by Friday October 1st if you are interested in learning how to use science and your imagination to invent Chatfield High School’s next wacky machine.

Think you have what it takes to build a chain reaction machine that can “Power the World?”  The 2022 Minnesota Engineering Challenge is “Engineering Energy.”  The build starts soon so please let Mrs. Gathje know if you are interested in joining the team by Friday October 1st.

REMINDER: Phones should NOT be out during the school day, lunchtime or recess. Any phones seen will be taken to the office.
 

Middle School Academic Triathlon and Knowledge Bowl - check your email for practice options for next week. There will be two practices; you'll need to attend one of them.
